AVERSION AND JEALOUSY

The Holy Quraan says: “And covet not the thing in which Allah has made some of you excel others. Unto men a fortune from that which they have earned, and unto women a fortune from that which they have earned. (envy not one another) but ask Allah of His Bounty. Lo! Allah is ever Knower of all things. (4: 32) And says: I seek refuge in the Lord…. from the evil of the envier when he envies”. (113: 5)

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayra reported that Allah’s Messenger (Sallallhu Alaihi Wassallam) said: “Beware of suspicion, for suspicion is the worst of false tales; and do not look for others’ faults and do not spy, and do not be jealous of one another, and do not desert (cut your relation with) one another, and do not hate one another; and O Allah’s worshippers! Be brothers (as Allah has ordered you)”. (Bukhari)

Sayyiduna Anas reported that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (Sallallhu Alaihi Wassallam) said: “Jealousy eats up virtues like fire eats up the wood and Sadaqah extinguishes sins like water extinguishes fire.” (Ibn-e-Majah)

Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (Sallallhu Alaihi Wassallam) is reported to have said: “Jealousy spoils the faith like the aloe spoils the honey.”

The Holy Prophet (Sallallhu Alaihi Wassallam) said: “You have inherited a disease from the previous nation and that is aversion and jealousy. The jealousy shaves off the religion and not the hair. By Him Who holds the life of Muhammad (Sallallhu Alaihi Wassallam), you cannot enter Paradise unless you have faith and you will not become a believer unless you love each other. Should I not tell you a thing by doing which you will love each other and that is, popularize Salaam amongst yourselves.” (Tirmidi) 2 www.GardensOfSunnah.co.uk

Sayyiduna Abdullah Bin Basar reported that the Glorious Prophet of Allah (Sallallhu Alaihi Wassallam) said: “Jealousy, backbiting and sorcery are not of me nor am I of them.” (Tabraani)
