Lutf Unka Aam Ho Hi Jaye Ga

EXPLANATION OF EACH COUPLET

Couplet 1:

Lutf Un Ka Aam Hohi Jaye Gha Shad Har Na Kaam Hohi Jaye Gha

His affection will embrace everybody Even sad people will become happy

Glossary of Terms:

Lutf = Affection.

Shaad = Pleasing/Happiness.

Har Nakam = Every sad person.

Explanation of the Couplet: The Messenger of Allah’s (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) generosity will have no restriction every person, special or common, will be satisfied and those who are unfortunate will also be pleased. This is giving an indication towards the first intercession on the Day of Judgement, ‘Shafa’at-e-Kubra’ (The great intercession).

Shafa’at-e-Kubra

Out of many verses, Allah (The Exalted) states;

“…It is near that your Lord may make you stand at a place where all should praise you.”1

Maqam-e-Mahmood (the station of praise) means Shafa’at-e-Kubra from which Muslims and non-Muslims will benefit from. This will lead them to being pleased and therefore will praise the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace). Even after this intercession, the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) will not be satisfied until his last follower will enter paradise.

Dailimi has reported from Sayyidina ‘Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) the Commander of the Faithful, that when this verse was revealed, the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, “When Allah (The Exalted), has promised that he will make me pleased, I shall not be pleased even if one of my followers remains in Hell.”2

Tabarani in Ma’jam Awsat and Bazzaaz in Musnad narrate from Sayyidina ‘Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, “I shall keep on interceding for my Ummah until my Lord will proclaim, “O Muhammad! (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) Are you now satisfied?” I shall say, “O my Lord! Yes, I am satisfied.”3

SubhanAllah! We find the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) dislikes to see his Ummah in pain and he is giving the news of future events with their outcome too. When the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) is pleased, Allah (The Exalted) is pleased.

Sayyidina Ibn ‘Umar said “I was with the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) and Sayyidina Abu Bakr was with him, and he had a large (coarse goatskin) cloak which he

had fastened over his chest with a skewer, and then Sayyidina Jibril (Peace be upon him) descended upon him and said ‘Muhammad (May Allah bless him and grant him peace), how is it that I see Abu Bakr and he has on a large cloak which he has fastened over his breast with a skewer?’ He said. ‘Jibril, he spent his wealth upon me before the Opening (of Makkah to Islam).’4 He said, ‘Allah sends greetings of peace to him and says to say to him, “Are you pleased with Me in this poverty of yours or displeased?” Sayyidina Abu Bakr said, ‘Am I displeased with my Lord? I am pleased with my Lord. I am pleased with my Lord. I am pleased with my Lord.’5

Allahu Akbar! Allah (The Exalted) is pleased with Sayyidina Abu Bakr and sent Salam upon him, because when the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) is pleased with someone, Allah (The Exalted) is pleased with them too.

Couplet 2:

Jaan De Do Wa’da-e Didaar Par Naqd Apna Daam Ho Hi Jaye Gha

Die willingly with the promise of meeting him Reward lies in the experience of greeting him

Glossary of Terms:

Jaan De Do = Sacrifice your life.

Wa’da-e Didaar Par = Promise of seeing the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace).

Naqd = Debt, buying/selling.

Daam = Value.

Explanation of the Couplet:

Explanation of the Couplet: Imam Ahmad Raza states that to sacrifice something great, like your life, for the sight of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) has no sort of meaningful loss whatsoever, because one will see the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) straight away.

Questioning

It was narrated by Sayyidina al-Bara’ (May Allah be pleased with him): “… So his soul is returned to his body and then two angels come to him who make him sit up and they say to him, “Who is your Lord?” He says, “Allah (The Exalted).” They say, “What is your religion?” He says, “My religion is Islam.” They say, “Who is this man who was sent amongst you?” He says, “He is the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace).” They say, “What did you do?” He says, “I read the Book of Allah (The Exalted) and I believed in it.” Then a voice calls out from heaven, “My slave has spoken the truth, so prepare for him a bed from Paradise and clothe him from Paradise, and open for him a gate to Paradise.” Then there comes to him some of its fragrance, and his grave is made wide, as far as he can see.”6

Every person, be a Muslim or not, will see the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) in the grave. The scholars of hadith have written the meaning of the hadith ‘Ma Taqulu Fi Hadhar Rajul’ (Who is this man who was sent amongst you?). Shah ‘Abdul Haq Muahddith Dihlawi states; the Messenger of Allah’s (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) duplicate body comes in the grave.

In the footnotes of Mishkat it states that the veils are lifted so one sees the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace).

In the explanation of Bukhari in the book of funerals Imam Qastalani states; the veils are lifted from the deceased.

Some may say that the question ‘Hadhar Rajul’ is a question as to what is in your mind; “What do you say about him?” This is incorrect as the non-Muslims would not be asked this as they do not have the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) in their mind. If this was the case, the non-Muslims would not answer “I do not know” but would ask “who are you talking about?” We find that the answer “I do not know” will be said because one will see the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) but will not recognise him.

The Arabic word ‘Ha-dha’ meaning ‘this’ is used for closeness. Therefore, the Sufis look forward to death, as they will be close to the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace).

It is stated that whilst Sayyidina Bilal was on his death bed, his wife seeing that he was about to depart from this world, said “What sorrow is this?” Sayyidina Bilal Hearing this, exclaimed “What happiness is this! Tomorrow I shall meet all my friends, Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and his companions.”7

Couplet 3:

Shaad He Firdos Ya’ni Aik Din Qismate Khuddam Ho Hi Jaye Ga

Paradise enjoys reflecting that one day In it the Messenger of Allah’s servants will come to stay

Glossary of Terms:

Shaad = Pleased.

Firdos = Paradise.

Qismat = Fate.

Khuddam = Plural of servant.

Explanation of the Couplet: Paradise is pleased as it knows one day those who served the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) will enter it.

Therefore, the Qur’an states:

إِنَّ†الَّذِينَ†آمَنُوا†وَعَمِلُوا†الصَّالَِِاتِ†كَانَتْ†لََمُْ†جَنَّاتُ†الْفِرْدَوْسِ†ن†زُُلً†≠†خَالِدِينَ†فِيهَا†لَ†ي†بَْ†غُونَ†عَنْ†هَا†حِوَلً

“Undoubtedly, those who believed and did good deeds, the gardens of paradise are for their hospitality. They shall dwell in it forever, not willing to change the place there-from.”8 Paradise is certain for the people of Allah (The Exalted) will enter.

Imam Qastalani states: one of the names of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) is Abul Qasim as he (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) is the distributor of paradise.9

Sayyidina Rabee’ah (May Allah be pleased with him) said, “I was with the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) and when I bought him his water for ablution and what he required, he asked me to make a request. I said; “I ask to accompany you in paradise.” He asked if I had any other requests to make. I replied, “That was all.””10

The Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) was pleased with Sayyidina Rabee’ah and asked him what he desired, because Allah (The Exalted) has given the keys to all the worlds to His beloved. The Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) did not place any conditions. Sayyidina Rabee’ah asked for something amazing, he loved the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) and he wanted to be with him (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) in Paradise because this is the eternal abode. Everything is because of the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace), how can one ask for paradise and not desire to be with the one because of whom we will get paradise?

Couplet 4:

Yaad Reh Jayegi Ye Be Bakiya Nafs Tu To Raam Ho Hi Jaye Gha

Memories of brave deeds will still persist when the mortal self ceases to exist

Glossary of Terms:

Be Bakiya = Without fear.

Nafs = Desires/One’s self.

Raam = Obedient.

Explanation of the Couplet: After youth has passed, sins and shameless actions that were committed without fear will be remembered. O desires! You will at the end of the day be obedient, hence repent from your sins and become obedient to Allah (The Exalted) and the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace).

Repentance is done upon sinning; however, the Prophets of Allah (upon whom be peace) are free from sin. Hence, if any Messenger of Allah repented it was a lesson for the Ummah and humbleness, not because of sinning, for instance Sayyidina Ibrahim after building the Ka’bah said:

رَب†نََّا†وَاجْعَلْنَا†مُسْلِمَيِْ†لَكَ†وَمِنْ†ذُ†رِيَّتِنَا†أُمَّةً†مُسْلِمَةً†لَكَ†وَأَرِنََ†مَنَاسِكَنَا†وَتُبْ†عَلَيْ†نَا†إِنَّكَ†أَنْتَ†التَّ†وَّابُ†الرَّحِ†يمُ

“Our Lord! And make us submissive towards you and from our offspring a nation obedient to You – and show us the ways of our worship, and incline towards us with Your mercy; indeed, You only are the Most Acceptor of Repentance, the Most Merciful.”11

Repenting in youth is likened to the practice of repentance of the Messengers. Repenting of a Prophet means their attention is now towards Allah (The Exalted) and they bring others towards Allah (The Exalted). Hence it is not the repentance of sins but a lesson for others. It also means repentance from actions that are disliked and not forbidden like Sayyidina Adam. The best repentance is that in youth.

All Prophets in youth are unique, however, our Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) is extra-ordinary and therefore he was called Al-Amin (Trustworthy) and Al-Sadiq (Truthful) before the announcement of Prophethood. The Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) did not take part in playing, entertainment etc. like normal youth. He (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) would visit mount Hira to worship Allah (The Exalted).

Couplet 5:

Be Nishano Ka Nishan Mitta Nahi Mitte Mitte Naam Ho Hi Jaye Gha

Selfless lovers enjoy a strange fame Death in devotion gives them a new name

Glossary of Terms:

Be Nishano = Those who have surrendered themselves for the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace).

Mitta = Forgotten.

Explanation of the Couplet: Those who surrender themselves in love of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace), their reputation will never be lost, to the extent that they will become recognised.

Therefore those who have domes erected over their graves are remembered often after centuries.

In a Hadith Qudsi recorded by Sayyidina Abu Hurayra, (May Allah be pleased with him) the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said speaking from his Lord: “Allah (The Exalted) is He, loves of His creation the God-fearing, the pure in the heart, those who are hidden, and those who are innocent, whose face is dusty, whose hair is uncombed, whose stomach is empty, and who, if he asks permission to enter to the rulers, is not granted that, and if he were to ask for a gentle lady in marriage, he would be refused, and when he leaves the world it does not miss him, and if he goes out, his going out is not noticed, and if he falls sick, he is not attended to, and if he dies, he is not accompanied to his grave.”

They asked, “O Messenger of Allah, how can we find someone like that?” He, said, “Uwais al-Qarani is such a person.” They asked him, “and who is Uwais al-Qarani?” He answered, “He is dark skinned with wide shoulders and of average height. His complexion is close to that of the earth. His beard touches his chest. His eyes are always looking downwards to the place of prostration, and his right hand is on his left hand. He weeps about himself with such a flow of tears that his lips are swollen. He wears a woollen garment and is known to the people of the heavens. If he makes a promise in the Name of Allah, he keeps it. Under his left shoulder there is a white spot. When the Day of Resurrection arrives, and it is announced to the slaves, “Enter the Garden,” it will be said to Uwais, “Stop and intercede.” Allah (The Exalted) will then forgive them to the same number as are the people of Rabi’a and Mudhar.12 So, O ‘Umar and O ‘Ali, if you can find him, ask him to intercede for you. Then Allah will forgive you.”

Sayyidina Uwais did not meet the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) yet look at the detailed description given about him, the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) knows every follower better than we know ourselves, internally and externally, SubhanAllah!

In a sahih hadith of Muslim, it is recorded that Sayyidina ‘Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) say, “Uwais ibn ‘Amir will come with several people, from the tribe of Mudhar, from the region of Qarn, as if he had a sickness on his skin. He has a mother to whom he is most perfectly devoted, and if he asked anything from Allah, it would be granted to him. If you meet him, ask him to ask forgiveness for you.”

Sayyidina Uwais was from Yemen. He asked his ill mother for permission to visit the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace). His mother said, “Go to the

house, you may meet him and come straight back.” It was a long journey by foot. When he reached the house, he was told by the Mother of the Believers Sayyida A’isha that the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) is next door in the Masjid. Sayyidina Uwais remembered his mother told him to come straight back and did not go next door to see the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace). He sacrificed the rank of becoming a Sahabi13 out of respect for his mother. However, at that time the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) was lecturing and took his blessed cloak, gave it to Sayyidina ‘Umar and Sayyidina ‘Ali to give it to Sayyidina Uwais, when they meet him. “Ask him to pray for you and ask forgiveness for my people.”

After the demise of the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) Sayyidina ‘Umar and Sayyidina ‘Ali travelled to Yemen and asked the people if anyone lived in Qarn. They replied, “Yes”. When they asked about a person by the name of Sayyidina Uwais Qarni, the people said that although they didn’t know him personally, there was someone by that name who lived in the jungle, away from the populated area and was considered a mad man. Sayyidina ‘Umar replied, “Take us to him.”

Thus, when the two Companions reached the place, they found Sayyidina Uwais in Salaah and waiting for him to complete. When he did, they greeted him, and he gave Salam back. Sayyidina ‘Umar asked him his name and he replied, “My name is Uwais.”

He then asked him to put out his right hand, and when Sayyidina Uwais did so, they saw the sign that the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) told them. Sayyidina ‘Umar then kissed his hand and said, “We bring good news that the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) himself sends Salam, wished that you have his blessed garment and requests that you make dua for his Ummah.”

Hearing this, Sayyidina Uwais went into a state of spiritual bliss, walked away from the two companions and went into prostration saying, “O creator of Love and Lover of Your beloved! Your beloved has sent his blessed garment to this loving beggar. With Your permission, I ask that You allow me to wear it.”

A voice was then heard saying, “Yes, wear it.” Sayyidina Uwais continued, “O Allah (The Exalted), I will not wear it until you forgive the entire Ummah of Your beloved!” When the voice said that a few thousand were forgiven, he replied, “O Allah (The Exalted)! Forgive as many as there are threads in this garment.” When it was said that twice as many were forgiven, he continued, “O Allah (The Exalted)! I will not wear it until all are forgiven!” Allah (The Exalted) then replied, “I have forgiven many thousands.” Sayyidina Uwais persisted, “I wish for all!”

During this extraordinary conversation, Sayyidina ‘Umar and Sayydina ‘Ali came to see what was happening and were then asked by Sayyidina Uwais, “Why did you come? I will never wear this until the entire Ummah is forgiven!”

After some time, he eventually put on the garment and said, “With my intercession and the blessings of this garment, for every hair amongst the sheep of the Rabee’a and Mudhar tribes, someone in the Ummah will be forgiven.” Unable to contain his joy, he then began to cry uncontrollably.

Seeing the magnificence and manner of this astonishing individual Sayyidina ‘Umar and Sayyidina ‘Ali began to cry too. They then asked, “With all your love and enthusiasm for the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace), what stopped you from ever meeting him?” He replied, “You both say you have seen the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace). Tell me, do his eyebrows join in the middle or are they separate from each other?” When the two companions were seen unable to give the answer, Sayyidina Uwais then began to perfectly describe the blessed eyebrows, before ending the conversation saying, “Even though I’m not physically present in his service, I’m still not detached from the reflection of the beloved.”14

Those fortunate to have seen the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) with their physical eyes are known as the Sahaba, and those who didn’t see him but saw the Sahaaba are known as the Tabi’een. Thus, Sayyidina Uwais Qarni is amongst the Tabi’een

13. A Sahabi is a person who saw the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) with Iman and passed away with Iman. A Sahabi is guaranteed Paradise.

and was even described by the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) as the best of them.15

Couplet 6:

Yaad Gaysu Zikr-e-Haq He Aah Kar Dil Me Peda Laam Ho Hi Jaye Gha

The Messenger of Allah’s tresses are vivid in my heart Like two ells from Allah carefully

written apart

Glossary of Terms:

Gaysu = Blessed hair.

Zikr-e-Haq = Remembrance of Allah.

Aah = Oh! An expression of surprise.

Laam = Letter of the Arabic Alphabet.

Explanation of the Couplet: The blessed hair of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) has been linked to the Arabic letter ‘Laam’ due to the curl, therefore remembering the blessed hair, is remembering Allah (The Exalted). When an expression of surprise is used in Arabic/Urdu ‘Ah’ is said, this will come from the heart and when Alif of ‘Ah’ is placed before the ‘Laams’ and the Ha of ‘Ah’ after the the ‘Laams’ the word “Allah” (The Exalted).

الله†- ه†ل†ل

Those who have the love of the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) will understand this. In Qasida Noori, Imam Ahmad Raza writes regarding the blessed face of the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace); ‘Kaaf’ Ghaysu (ك) – meaning the letter ‘Kaaf’ representing the blessed hair, ‘Ha’ Dahan (ه)– the letter ‘Ha’ is the blessed mouth, ‘Ya’ Abru (ي) – the letter ‘Ya’ the blessed eyebrows, Aakay ‘‘Ain, Saad’ (ع†, ص) – the letters ‘‘Ain’ and ‘Saad’ are the blessed eyes.

There are few Surahs in the Qur’an that start with Individual letters known as Huroof-e-Muqatti’at, which the Arif Billahs’ (knowers of Allah) understand. The reality is only known by Allah (The Exalted) and His beloved (May Allah bless him and grant him peace).

This is the love of Imam Ahmad Raza such that individual letters from the Arabic alphabet made his love for the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) a reality. The Awliya Allah would see nothing but the Prophet of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) in everything.

Blessed Hair

The number of hairs of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) total over 1,213,000.16

Sayyidina Khalid ibn Walid was successful in every battle due to keeping the blessed hair in his Amama (turban).

Sayyidina ‘Abu Bakr said: “I saw Khalid [ibn Walid] asking for the Messenger of Allah’s forelock and he received it. He used to put it over his eyes and then kiss it.” It is known that he then placed it in his Qalansiyya, (head cover) around which the turban is tied and never faced battle again except he won.” 17

Ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani relates that Imam Malik said: “Khalid ibn al-Walid owned a qalansiyya which contained some of the Messenger of Allah’s (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) hair, and that is the one he wore on the day of the battle of Yarmuk.”

Success lies in the love of the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace).

Aik Din Aawaaz Badle Ghai Ye Saaz Cheh Chaha Kehram Ho Hi Jaye Gha

One day instruments will achieve harmony Noise will change into rhythm and melody

Glossary of Terms:

Saaz = Instruments

Cheh Chaha = Singing of birds in happiness

Kehram = Lamentation.

Explanation of the Couplet: The beauty in this world, the beautiful singing of birds and the twinkling of stars will all be finished and the terror on the Day of Judgement is sure to come. It could also mean that my praise of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) will come to an end. All creation, including myself, will finish and be raised again forever.

The beautiful mansions, villas, cars, gardens, parks and everything we enjoy will one day turn to rubble and dust. Allah states in the Qur’an;

“Every living being must taste death; and We test you with harm and with good – a trial; and to Us only you have to return.”18

Many are terrified of death and avoid talking about it. However, it is different for one who loves the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace). They embrace death because it is the chance to see their beloved Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) and therefore for a believer death is a great gift.

Sayyidina ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) said “The Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) stated, “’Death is a gift for a believer.””19

The incident of Sayyidina Bilal has already been mentioned at the end of the second Couplet and this was also the state of many, including Sayyidina Musa Al-‘Ash’ari.

Sailo! Daman Sakhi Ka Taam Lo Kuch Na Kuch Inaam Ho Hi Jaye Gha

Those who stay firm in loyalty Enjoy their generous master’s hospitality

Glossary of Terms:

Sailo = Seeker.

Daman = Being Loyal.

Sakhi = Generous.

Tham = Hold on to.

Inaam = Gift.

Explanation of the Couplet: O seeker! Do not go anywhere. Hold onto the one who gives generously of both worlds with loyalty, you will undoubtedly receive something. No one goes empty handed from this court.

Generosity, benevolence, nobility and elite bountifulness each have a deeper meaning than at first glance and may be divided into many branches. For example, scholars say that benevolence is to gladly spend upon important and useful matters. It is also referred to as courage and nobility. Nobility is spending freely thereby avoiding the act of acquiring, which is not a quality worthy of praise. Spending freely is the opposite of tight-fistedness.

Bountifulness is to gladly release the repayment of a debt and is the opposite of ill-nature. Each of these noble qualities were apparent in the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) and there has never been, nor will be, anyone of equal characteristics. No one who met him, described him as being otherwise.

Narrated by Sayyidina Jabir bin ‘Abdullah, “I went to the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) in the mosque, and he ordered me to pray two Rak’ats. He owed me some money which he repaid to me and gave more than what was due to me.”20

Sayyidina Muawwidh, Afra’s son brought the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) a plate of fresh dates and cucumber. In return, the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) gave him a handful of gold and jewellery. Sayyidina Anas tells us that the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) never kept any wealth for the following day.21

Never Said NO!

Sayyidina Ibn Munkadir heard Sayyidina Jabir ibn ‘Abdullah say, “The Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) was not asked for anything to which he said, ‘No.’”22

Sayyidina Anas said, “A man asked him for something and he gave him all the sheep between two mountains. The man returned to his people and said, “Become Muslim. Muhammad (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) gives the gift of a man who does not fear poverty.””23

A man came and asked the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) for something. The Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, “I do not have anything, but buy something on my account and when I get some money, I will pay for it.” Sayyidina ‘Umar said, “Allah (The Exalted) has not obliged you to do what you are not able to do!” The Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) disliked that, so a man of the Ansar said, “Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace)! Spend and do not fear lessoning from the Master of the Throne!” The Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) smiled and the pleasure could be seen in his blessed face. He said, “I am commanded to this.”24

These are examples of worldly things. A person equally will not go empty spiritually either, they are blessed with protection, increase in wealth, in health, sins are forgiven etc.

Yaade Abru Karke Tarpo Bulbulo! Tukre Tukre Daam Ho Hi Jaye Gha

Think of his eyebrows, oh birds, and pray, That your cage will break; and you will fly away

Glossary of Terms:

Abru = Eye Brows.

Bulbulo = Famous bird known to love flowers, referring to the admirers of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace).

Daam = Trap.

Explanation of the Couplet: O Admirers! If you are caught up in worldly affairs, in difficulty, trapped or your release has become impossible, then remember the blessed eye brows and gasp for them. This is because the blessed eye brows will act as swords and all difficulties will be removed. They will cut through all traps and you will reach your goal.

A Bulbul is a bird with pleasant and soft nature which loves fragrance. Imam Ahmad Raza has called the admirers of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) Bulbul which is an indication towards pleasantness and purity.

Admiring the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) is obligatory in Islam. Sayyidina Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, “None of you truly believe, until I am dearer to you than your father, your children and all mankind.”25

We should try and make effort to increase this love be it with Durood, practise the Sunnah or learning about the beauty of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).

Love of Sayyidina ‘Umar

Sayyidina ‘Umar said to the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace), “I love you more than anything except my soul which is between my two sides.” The Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) replied, “None of you believe until I am dearer to him than his own soul.” Sayyidina ‘Umar said, “By the One who sent down the book on you, I love you more than my soul which is between my two sides.” The Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, “‘Umar, now you have it!”26

The Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) placed his blessed hand on the chest of Sayydina ‘Umar and removed that which was stopping him love the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) more than his own soul.

Perfection of faith is dependent on love of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) because Allah (The Exalted) and His angels (upon them be peace) are constantly raising his honour.27 Let us become a true follower by doing what is best for a true believer. Become a Muslim by name and by nature, by loving what the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) liked and refraining from those things that the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) disliked. In sha-Allah!

Imam Abdul-Wahhab Sha’rani in Al-Mizan al-Kubra mentions a durood to increase the love of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).

O Allah! Increase within me the love of Your Prophet, our master Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).

Couplet 10:

Mufliso Unki Ghali Me Japaro Baghe Khuld Ikraam Ho Hi Jaye Gha

Turn to him for help, O poor, and arise you will get as a gift “this Paradise”

Glossary of Terms:

Mufliso = O Needy.

Ghali = Streets.

Baghe Khuld = Garden in Paradise.

Ikraam = Gifted.

Explanation of the Couplet: O those in need of paradise and needy of Firdous, go in the streets of the city of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace), you will get paradise as a gift.

The son of Sayyidina ‘Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said “Whosoever is able to die in Madinah, then let him die there, for indeed, I will intercede for the one who dies there.”28

It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Qays bint Mihsan; an early female companion (May Allah be pleased with her), that she said: “If you had only seen me and the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and grant him peace) [as he led me] through some of the side-streets of Madinah and the dwellings therein, until we reached up to Baqi’ al-Gharqad. Then he said, “O Umm Qays!” I answered, “At your service and good pleasure, O Messenger of Allah!” “Do you see this graveyard?” he asked. “Yes, O Messenger of Allah,” I replied.

So, the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, “Seventy thousand people will be resurrected from it, their faces [shining] like the full moon at night- they will enter Paradise without any reckoning.” So, a man [‘Ukasha, Umm Qays’s brother] got up and said, “O Messenger of Allah, and me too?” He said, “and you.” Then another man got up and said, “and me, O Messenger of Allah?” He (Allah bless him and grant him peace) answered, “Ukasha beat you to it.””29

We find from this that the keys to paradise has been gifted to the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace), whomever he wishes can enter and whomever he wishes not will not.

This is also why the second Caliph of Islam, Sayyidina ‘Umar ibn Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him), is reported by al-Bukhari to have made a supplication (du’a) that encompassed both of those virtues when he said: “O Allah, make me a martyr in your path, and grant me a death in the city of your Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace).”30

Sayyidina Ali narrates that, “When the time came for Sayyidina Abu Bakr to pass away, he then mentioned to me, ‘O Ali, when I pass away, you must give me Ghusal with the same blessed hands with which you gave Ghusal to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). You must then place fragrance on me and take me to the same room in which the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) is buried. You should then seek

permission for me to be buried there as well. If you see the door opening, then you should bury me there. Otherwise, you must bury me in the graveyard of the Muslims which is the Jannatul Baqi until Allah Almighty calls people to account.’

Sayyidina Ali continues, “I then performed the Ghusal and covered him with the kafan. I was the first person to stand at the door of the beloved Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and seek permission. I asked in the following way, ‘O Prophet of Allah! This is Abu Bakr Siddique who seeks permission to be buried.’

Sayyidina Ali then narrates further, ‘I then saw the door open on its own and heard the words, ‘Allow the Habeeb to be with the Habeeb because the Habeeb is keenly anxious to meet the Habeeb.’31

Couplet 11:

Ghar Yu-nahi Rahmat Ki Taweele Rahe Mad-ha Har Ilzaam Ho Hi Jaye Gha

Your Mercy demonstrates always new tips It will one day forgive us for our lips

Glossary of Terms:

Ghar = If.

Yunahi = Like this.

Taweele = Explanation.

Mad-ha = Praise.

Ilzaam = Accuse.

Explanation of the Couplet: Whatever has been proven from the hadith regarding the Messenger of Allah’s (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) mercy, if the effects of that mercy become apparent, then it will change all our sins and accusations into praise and reward.

Allah (The Exalted) mentions in the Qur’an:

إِلَّ†مَنْ†تََبَ†وَآمَنَ†وَعَمِلَ†عَمَلًً†صَالًِِا†فَأُولَٰئِكَ†ي†بَُ†دِلُ†اللََُّّ†سَي†ئَاتِِِمْ†حَسَنَاتٍ†وَكَانَ†اللََّّ†غَفُورًا†رَحِيمًا

“Except one who repents and accepts faith and does good deeds – so Allah will turn their evil deeds into virtues; and Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful.”32

Sayyidina ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported that the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: “The last person to enter paradise will be a man who will alternately walk, stagger and be touched by the Fire. Once he has passed out of the Fire, he will turn to face it and say, “Blessed be He Who has saved me from you. Allah (The Exalted) has given me something that He did not give to the earlier and later generations.” Then a tree will be raised up for him, and he will say, “O my Rabb, bring me closer to this tree so that I may enjoy its shade and drink of its water.” Allah (The Exalted) will say, “O son of Adam! Perhaps if I grant you this, you will ask Me for something else?”

He will say, “No, O Rabb, I promise that I will not ask for anything else.” Allah (The Exalted) will excuse him because he is seeing something that he has no patience to resist so he will bring him closer and he will enjoy its shade and drink its water. Then another tree, better than the first, will be raised up for him and he will say, “O my Rabb, bring me near to this tree so that I may drink its water and enjoy its shade, then I will not ask you for anything more.” Allah (The Exalted) will say, “O son of Adam, did you not promise Me that you would not ask me for anything else? Perhaps if I bring you closer to this tree you will ask for more?”

So, the man will promise not to ask for any more, and Allah (The Exalted) will excuse him because he is seeing something that he has no patience to resist. Allah (The Exalted) will bring him closer and he will enjoy its shade and drink its water. Then a third tree will be raised up at the gate of paradise, and it will be better than the first two. The man will say, “O My Rabb, bring me closer to this [tree] so that I may enjoy its shade and drink its water, and I will not ask for anything more.” Allah (The Exalted) will say, “O son of Adam, did you not promise Me that you would not ask Me for anything more?”

He will say, “Yes, O Rabb, I will not ask you for anything more.” His Rabb (The Exalted) will excuse him because he is seeing something which he has no patience to resist, so He will bring him

closer to it. When he is brought closer, he will hear the voices of the people of Paradise, and will say, “O my Rabb, admit me to it.” Allah (The Exalted) will say, “O son of Adam what do you want so that you will never ask Me for anything else? Will it please you if I give you the world and as much again?”

He will say, “O Rabb, are You making fun of me when You are the Rabb al-Aalameen?”

Sayyidina Ibn Mas’ud smiled and said, “Why do you not ask me why I am smiling?” They asked, “Why are you smiling?” He said, “Because the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) smiled. People asked, “Why are you smiling, O Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace)?” He said, “Because the Rabb of the Worlds will smile33 when He is asked, “Are You making fun of me when You are the Rabb of the Worlds?” He will say, “I am not making fun of you, but I am able to do whatever I will.””34

SubhanAllah! Allah (The Exalted) is The Lord of the worlds and the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) is the mercy of mankind, a reflection of the mercy of Allah (The Exalted).

وَمَا†أَرْسَلْنَاكَ†إِلَّ†رَحَْْةً†لِلْعَالَمِيَ

“And We did not send you except as a mercy for the entire world.”35

We find from this that the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) knows the last person to enter paradise and his state. Allah (The Exalted) is placing him in paradise for the pleasure of the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace).

It states in the Qur’an: وَلَلْْخِرَةُ†خَيٌْْ†لَكَ†مِنَ†الُْْولَٰ

“And undoubtedly, soon your Lord shall give you so much that you shall be satisfied.”36

At the revelation of this verse, the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, “By Allah! I will not be pleased i.e. be happy, until such time, that the last follower of mine is not out of Hell.”37

Badah Khawari Ka Sama Bandne To Do Shaykh Durd Aashaam Ho Hi Jaye Gha

When there is an air of ecstasy, Even our critics will join our party

Glossary of Terms:

Badah = Intoxication.

Khawari = To drink.

Sama Bandne To Do = Let take colour/effect, let the effect of the love of Allah (The Exalted) and Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) effect.

Shaykh = Sufi peer.

Durd = Residue.

Aashaam = Drinker.

Explanation of the Couplet: Let the effect of love of Allah (The Exalted) and the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) start, then the pleasure of spiritual bliss from the love of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) will start taking effect.

Imam Ahmad Raza has made a link between those who are drowned in love and those who are not, and this is to make remembrance of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) and show steadfastness, that those who do not have the love will, automatically.

Milad

Sayyidina ‘Abdul Wahid bin Ismail (May Allah have mercy upon him) narrates that a great lover of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) lived in Egypt. He used to celebrate the birth of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) with full happiness and joy. During these days he would give a lot towards charity. A Jewish family lived next door. One day, during the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the Jewish woman asked her husband; “Why does our Muslim neighbour hold such a big feast during this month?”

Her husband replied; “During this month, their Messenger (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) was born, therefore he does acts like this throughout this month to show his happiness and Muslims show great respect to this month.”

Upon hearing this, the wife said; “The Muslims do such a nice thing by celebrating the birth of their Messenger (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) every year.” When the Jewish woman went to sleep that night, she had a dream in which she saw a beautiful elegant man, a divine light was shining from his blessed face and a crowd of people surrounded him. She walked forward and asked someone as to whom this noble person was. The man replied, “He is the First and Last, most beloved Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace), he has come so that he can bless your neighbour for celebrating the blessed birth and also to meet your neighbour and show his joy.” The Jewish woman then asked, “Will he talk to me” The man replied, “Yes.” The woman then called out to the beloved Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace). The beloved Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) replied, “Lab’baik” (I am here). She was so impressed by this and said; “I am not a Muslim, but you the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) still replied to me.” The Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said “Almighty Allah has told me that very soon you will convert to Islam.”

20

Subhan-Allah! Upon hearing this she read the Kalima Shahada. She awoke from her dream and accepted Islam from the heart. She decided that in the morning she would gather all her wealth and celebrate the Blessed birth of the Most beloved Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) and give it all towards charity. When she awoke in the morning she saw that her husband was preparing a feast. She asked him in astonishment, “What are you doing?” He replied, “I am preparing an invitation because you have accepted Islam.” she asked, “How do you know?” He replied, “I saw the most beloved Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) last night, in my dream too, and I have also accepted Islam.”38 Allahu Akbar!

Imam Bukhari states; Thuwaiba was the freed slave girl of Abu Lahb whom he had manumitted, and then she suckled the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). When Abu Lahb died, one of his relatives (Abbas ibn Abdul Muttalib) saw him in a dream in a very bad state and asked him, “What have you encountered?” Abu Lahb said, “I have not found any rest since I left you, except that I have been given water to drink in this (the space between his thumb and other fingers) and that is because of my freeing Thuwaiba.”39

“It is proven that Abu Lahab’s punishment of fire is reduced on every Monday because he rejoiced on birth of Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and freed the slave-woman Thuwaiba. When Abu Lahab, whose eternal abode is hell fire and regarding whom whole Surah Lahab was revealed, he gets reduction in his punishment every Monday then Imagine the situation of a believer who has spent his life in rejoicing over birth of Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and died as a monotheist.”40

Having a good opinion about the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) can only bring benefit.

Gham To Unko Bhool Kar Lipta He Yu Jese Apna Kaam Ho Hi Jaye Gha

Grief is trying very hard to beat me But it will never succeed to bring defeat to me.

Glossary of Terms:

Gham = Grief.

Bhool = Forgotten.

Explanation of the Couplet: O Grief! The love of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) is such that once you connect, all your needs will be fulfilled and successful.

The love of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) is such a treasure that those who remember, have a great status and those who do it without intention, do not go empty handed.

Sayyidina Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “When Allah’s Messenger (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) gave orders for the oath of allegiance of Allah’s (The Exalted) good pleasure41, Sayyidina ‘Uthman (May Allah be pleased with him) had gone to Makkah as the Prophet’s (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) envoy. Then when the people had taken the oath of allegiance, Allah’s Messenger (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, “‘Uthman is engaged in Allah’s business and in His Messenger’s business.” He then struck one of his hand on the other, and Allah’s Messenger’s (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) hand on behalf of Sayyidina ‘Uthman (May Allah be pleased with him) was better than the people’s hands on their own behalf.”42

On the authority of Sayyidina ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar who said that Sayyidna ‘Uthman’s absence from the battle of Badr was because the daughter of the Prophet (Sayyida Ruqayyah), who was his wife, fell ill. Allah’s Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, “You will receive the same reward and share (of the treasures) as anyone of those who participated in the battle of Badr.”43

Loving the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) is such a gift, that being far or near is not a condition. If the heart is connected and loyal then leave the rest to the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace). He reflects the Mercy of Allah (The Exalted), he is Rahmat-al-Lil ‘Aalameen.

The Poem of Scarf

The writer Imam Sharafud-deen al-Busairi had become paralysed. his doctors and physicians gave up all hope of his recovery. Eventually in this state of complete helplessness and despair he composed this poem expressing the grandeur and excellence of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). Using this as his sole means of asking Allah (The Exalted) to cure him from his illness. He isolated himself in a quiet place one Thursday night and with complete devotion, concentration and sincerity began reciting this poem. While reciting it sleep overcame him. He had a vision of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). He told the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) of his illness whereupon the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) passed his blessed hand over Imam Busairi’s body. Through the blessing Allah granted him complete cure from his paralysis. When he awoke he found a scarf or shawl on 41. At Al-Hudaibiya, Qur’an (Surah No: 48. Verse: 18). 42. Tirmidhi.

his body which he had seen the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) place on his paralysed limbs. This resulted in the poem being named “Qasidah Burdah” (The Poem of the Scarf).

In the morning prayer he went out, a pious dervish greeted him with salaam and requested him to recite the Qasidah which he had composed in praise of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). Imam Busri said that I have composed many poems in praise of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) which one do you wish to hear? The dervish replied: ‘The one which begins with, A-min Tadhak-kurin”. Upon this request Imam Busri became wonder struck and said, “I take an oath that no one knows about this poem. Tell me the truth, from whom did you hear about it?” The dervish replied, “I take an oath by Allah that I heard it from you last night when in a dream you had recited it to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), whereupon the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) became attentive towards you and because of its blessings Allah granted you complete cure from your ailment.”

Mit Ke Ghar Yunahi Raha Qarze Hayaat Jaan Ka Nilaam Ho Hi Jaye Gha

Let us pay life’s debt and become free or soon we will face bankruptcy

Glossary of Terms:

Mit = Annihilation.

Ke = Because.

Ghar Yu Nahi = If not.

Qarze = Debt.

Nilaam = Sell/give up.

Explanation of the Couplet: If one does not die in the love of the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace), you will die anyway, meaning the angels will suddenly take life.

Allah (The Exalted) states: أَيْ†نَمَا†تَكُونُوا†يُدْرِكْكُمُ†الْمَوْتُ

“Death will come to you wherever you may be…” 44

It is related that a woman said to Sayyida A’isha, “Show me the grave of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace).” She showed it to her and the woman wept until she died.45

When the Makkans drove Sayyidina Zayd ibn Dathima out of the Haram to kill him, Abu Sufyan ibn Harb said to him, “I ask you by Allah (The Exalted), Zayd, don’t you wish that Muhammad (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) were with us now to take your place so that we could cut his head, and you were with your family?” Sayyidina Zayd said, “By Allah (The Exalted), I would not wish Muhammad (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) to be now in my place where even a thorn could hurt him if that was the condition for my being with my family!” Abu Sufyan remarked, “I have never seen anybody who loves anyone the way the Companions of Muhammad (May Allah bless him and grant him peace love) him.”46

If one dies with the love for the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) then this is a great gift for a believer, as already mentioned in the previous Couplet.

A Jew’s Love

A Jew was reading the Torah, he saw on a page the name of our Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace). Due to hatred he deleted the blessed name. The following day he opened the Torah and on the same page four times, in anger he deleted the blessed name. The third day he opened the Torah and saw on the same page the name of our Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) written 8 times and again he deleted them. On the fourth day to his surprise he saw the blessed name 12 times, now his state changed, the love for the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) grew in his heart and set off from Syria to see the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace), although he had set out and when he reached Madinah he met ‘Ali from whom he heard that the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) had passed away. Now he became restless and said let me see any clothing the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) wore.

He inhaled the clothing and went to the blessed grave and recited the Shahada and supplicated “O Allah (The Exalted) if you have accepted my Islam then call me to my beloved, he said this and passed away. ‘Ali bathed, shrouded and buried him in cemetery of Madinah Jannat al Baqi. 47

SubhanAllah! His love for the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) changed his state, he travelled to meet the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace), when he inhaled the clothing the effects was such that tawheed was running through him, he embraced Islam not only that, but he became Mustajab meaning a person whose dua is accepted. He reached a very high status within a very short period due to love. Love removes many barriers and makes the purpose of this life easy to reach.

Aaqilo! Unki Nazar Sidhi Rahe Boro Ka Bhi Kaam Ho Hi Jaye Gha

Depends on your master’s mood, O wise men! He may forgive even the silliest men

Glossary of Terms:

Aqilo = O intellects!

Nazar Sidhi Rahe = He looks at us.

Boro = Little intellect.

Explanation of the Couplet: O intellects, you are proud of your knowledge and intelligence, and think low of us, however, remember we wait for the Messenger of Allah’s (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) glance. If he looks at us once, we will be very successful, and you will be defeated with your pride.

Narrated by Sayyidina Anas bin Malik: “While I was with the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) a man came and said, “O Messenger of Allah’s (May Allah bless him and grant him peace)! I have committed a legally punishable sin; please inflict the legal punishment on me.” The Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) did not ask him what he had done. Then the time for the prayer became due and the man offered prayer along with the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace), and when the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) had finished his prayer, the man got up again and said, “O Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace)! I have committed a legally punishable sin please inflict the punishment on me according to Allah’s Laws.” The Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, “Didn’t you pray with us?” He said, “Yes.” The Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, “Allah has forgiven your sin.” or said, “….your legally punishable sin.”48 Allahu Akbar! All it takes is the glance of the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace); the condition is love; those who loved the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) without any motive but love, all will be rewarded. Our actions are not worthy of being accepted, if there is anything that will save us, it is without doubt love. The companions would be teased by the non-believers, as they would stay hungry and wear plain simple clothes. The Ahle Sunnah are also teased by the corrupt sects regarding deeds (amal), for example masjids being empty and not having done a lot of work, etc. However, the Ahle Sunnah have everything, as this is inheritance.

Explanation of the Couplet: Now the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) has come with the news of intercession for the sinners. When the forgiveness increases, it will be sufficient for the entire Ummah. We will also get this for our sins.

Allah (The Exalted) himself has said to the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace);

“… and seek the forgiveness of sins of your close ones and for the common believing men and women…”49

The Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, “Although thousands of prayers of the Prophets are accepted, they are also bestowed with one special prayer from Allah – that they may ask whatever they desire, and it will certainly be granted. All the Prophets up to Prophet ‘Isa have utilised their privileged prayers in this world whereas I have saved it for the hereafter – and that is my Intercession for my Ummah on the Day of Judgement. My intercession is for all people of my Ummah who have left this world with faith.”50

Intercession of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) will be beneficial for all.

The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) the Intercessor of the Sinners said, “My intercession on the day of judgment is for those among my Ummah who have committed major sins.”51

The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, “On the day of judgement, I shall be the Leader of the Prophets, and their speaker and the owner of their intercession – and I do not say this with any pride.”52

Couplet 17:

Ay Raza! Har Kaam Ka Aik Wakht He Dil Ko Bhi Aaraam Ho Hi Jaye Gha

There is a time, O Raza, for every event Peace for your heart will also be sent

Glossary of Terms:

Ay Raza = Referring to Imam Ahmad Raza.

Aaraam = Rest.

Explanation of the Couplet: O Raza! Allah (The Exalted) has set a time for everything. If your heart desires Madinah, that time will also arrive. The heart will rest when presented in the court of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace).

As mentioned earlier, Madinah has a lot of virtues only because of the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace). Salah is increased in reward and it is sworn by in the Qur’an. Why should it not be beloved to the lovers, when Allah (The Exalted) Himself is the creator of the entire world and said my earth is that in which my beloved is.

Allah (The Exalted) states;

“And those who accepted this city as their home and accepted faith before them, befriend those who migrated towards them, and in their breasts do not find any need for what they have been given, and prefer the migrants above themselves even if they themselves are in dire need; and whoever is saved from the greed of his soul – it is they who are the successful.”53

Scholars say, Iman in this verse means Madinah. Madinah is Madinah and every Muslims should have zeal to visit and be buried there. May Allah (The Exalted) increase our love, without trials and effort with generosity and goodness, Ameen.
