24. THE COMPANY OF THE HOLY PROPHET

(SALLALLHU ALAIHI WASSALLAM)

The Sahaba treated the company of the Beloved Habbeb (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) as an endless bliss. They were ready to sacrifice anything for a brief audience with their master.

Once, the Glorious Prophet of Islam (Sallallhu Alaihi Wassallam) said to Sayyiduna Amr Bin Al-As: “I wish to send you to a campaign. Allah willing, I will give you sufficient share in the booty.” He said: “I have not embraced Islam for any share in the booty; I have accepted Islam only stay in your company.” 1

The Sahaba, who were having no relatives, preferred to spend most of their time in the company of the Holy Prophet (Sallallhu Alaihi Wassallam). When Sayyiduna Qilah’s husband passed away and her children were taken care of by her husband’s brother, she felt free and called on Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (Sallallhu Alaihi Wassallam) along with another Companion of the Holy Prophet (Sallallhu Alaihi Wassallam) and resolved to stay in company of the Glorious Prophet of Islam (Sallallhu Alaihi Wassallam) for the rest of her life. 2

Sayyiduna Mar lived at Aliyah a little far away from Madinatul Munawwara. It was difficult for him to visit the Beloved Habbeb (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam)’s court every day. He had made an alternate arrangement. One day he attended Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (Sallallhu Alaihi Wassallam) and the sent his brother in faith Sayyiduna Utban Bin Maalik the next day so that he may not miss a single word of the Glorious Prophet of Islam (Sallallhu Alaihi Wassallam). 3

Some Sahaba wished to be in the company of the Holy Prophet (Sallallhu Alaihi Wassallam) in the Hereafter too. Sayyiduna Rabi’ah Bin Ka’b Aslami was the Beloved Habbeb (Sallallahu Alaihi 2 www.GardensOfSunnah.co.uk

Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (Sallallhu Alaihi Wassallam) said: “Anything else?” He said: “Only this much”. The Glorious Prophet of Islam (Sallallhu Alaihi Wassallam) said: “Perform Salaah abundantly and your wish will be fulfilled.” 4
