The miraculous healing of the sick and the incurable

There are numerous reports of miraculous healings permitted by Allah to His Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and the following are just a taste.

Incident 1

Sayyidina Asim, Sayyidina Umar’s son, the grandson of Sayyidina Qatada tells us that during the fighting (at uhud), Sayyidina Qatada sustained a severe eye injury by An-Nu’man that caused his eyeball to fall from its socket down onto his cheek. The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم put the eyeball back in its socket and thereafter it became his best eye.1 Sayyidina Abu Sa’id Al Khudri said that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم put some of his saliva on the mark made by the arrow on the Day of Dhu Qarad and Sayyidina Abu Qatada told him that it neither pounded nor yet became infected. 2

 

Lessons Learnt

  1. We learn that the entire eye came out of the socket, this is no easy thing to cure. However, the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم has all the keys of the entire universe. He صلى الله عليه وسلم is the mercy onto mankind.
  2. That eye was placed back into the socket by the blessed hands of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم . Why would it then not be his best eye? Due to the touch of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم it became better than before.
  3. Everything from the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم is blessed. Even the mark from the arrow was cured with the blessed saliva.
  4. Can a eye survive an arrow and the eye falling out of the socket?

Incident 2

A blind man came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and Sayyidina Uthman, Hunayf’s son tells us that he said, “O Messenger of Allah, ask Allah to remove the veil from my eyes.” The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم told him, “Go and make ablution, then offer two units of prayer and say, ‘O Allah, I ask You and I turn to You by the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم the Prophet of Mercy. O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم ,I turn to your Lord to remove the veil from my eyes. O Allah let him intercede for me.” The man followed the instructions and returned, and Allah had restored his sight.3

  1. This companion had faith and love for the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم .He could have asked Allah directly, but he knew that Allah has sent the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and has given him صلى الله عليه وسلم the power and authority.
  2. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم did not rebuke the companion nor said do not ask me this is polytheism (shirk).
  3. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم taught him and the rest of the Ummah that when you need something this is a way.
  4. This companion is using the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم as an intermediary (waseela) to Allah.
  5. With the faith in the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم ,following the supplication taught and using the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم as an intermediary Allah returned his eyesight. Subhan Allah!
  6. How fortunate are those whom have been blessed with the blessed touch of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Incident 3

Sayyidina Mula’ib’s son suffered from an oedema4 of water fluid and sent a messenger to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to tell him of his condition. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم took some dust from the ground, blew some of his salvia upon it and gave to Sayyidina Mula’ib’s messenger who was amazed and took it fearing that he would be laughed at. He returned to Sayyidina Mulai’b’s son who was now on the verge of death and gave it to him. He consumed it and Allah cured him.5

  1. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم did not rebuke the companion nor said do not ask me this is polytheism (shirk).
  2. The dust was a means to mix the blessed saliva which had the real cure.
  3. This companion was almost going to die, however, with his love and faith in the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم he ate it and was cured.
  4. The hell fire will not touch that body which has the anything from the Prophet .صلى الله عليه وسلم
  5. How fortunate are those whom have been blessed with the blessed touch of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Incident 4

Sayyidina Habib6 said that his father’s eyes became so white that he had no vision at all. The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم blew some of his saliva in to his eyes whereupon his vision was immediately restored. He was even seen threading a needle at the age of eighty!7

  3. The blessed saliva not only restored the vision, but it became better than before.
  4. To thread a needle is not an easy task; however, even at the old age of eighty this companion had no issue doing this.
  5. How fortunate are those whom have been blessed with the blessed touch of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Incident 5

During the Battle of Uhud, Sayyidina Kulthum Hussain’s son was shot in his throat. The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم blew some of his saliva upon it and it healed immediately. Sayyidina Abdullah, Anies’ son was also among those injured during the encounter and sustained a wound to his head, once again the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم blew some of his saliva upon it and it did not turn infected.

  3. All it needed was the blessed saliva upon the throat of one companion and upon the head of another companion.
  4. How fortunate are those whom have been blessed with the blessed touch of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Incident 6

At the Battle of Khybar, Sayyidina Ali’s eyes became very painful. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم blew some of his saliva on them and they were immediately healed.8 Sayyidina Salama, Al Akwa’s son sustained a wound to his thigh during the battle and a similar miracle occurred whereby he too was immediately healed.9

Incident 7

On another occasion Imam Ali was suffering and so he began to supplicate to Allah. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم overheard him and said, “O Allah, recover him!” Then he nudged him with his foot and immediately the pain left Sayyidina ‘Ali.10

  1. This companion had faith and love for the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم .He asked Allah directly but with the supplication and touch of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم it was cured.

Incident 8

It was during the Battle of Badr that Abu Jahl severed the hand of Sayyidina Mu’awwidh, Afra’s son. Sayyidina Mu’awwidh went to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم carrying his severed hand, whereupon the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم blew some of his saliva on it, replaced it was immediately miraculously re-joined to his arm. It was during the same battle Sayyidina Wahb’s son tells us that Sayyidina Khubayb, Yasaf’s son was severely struck on the neck and half of it was severed. The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم blew his saliva upon it and it was immediately healed.11

  3. How fortunate are those whom have been blessed with the blessed touch of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.
  4. The arm of Sayyidina Mu’awwidh was dislocated from his shoulder. This was not an easy task to cure. However, there was no need to worry and no need for an operation. It only needed the blessed saliva.

Incident 9

A lady from Khuth’am had a child who was mute (silent). The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم asked for some water to be brought with which he rinsed his mouth and washed hands. Then he gave it to the mother and told her to wash the child and wipe him with it. The mother did as the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم had said and the child was no longer mute and had an intellect superior to most people.12

  4. The blessings from the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم were such that it cured the child.
  5. Not only did it solve the problem, but the child’s intellect become superior too. Subhan Allah!

ncident 10

There was a lady who brought her possessed son to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and Sayyidina Abbas’ son tells us that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم stroked his chest whereupon the child vomited something that resembled a black puppy and was immediately cured. We are also told of the time Sayyidina Muhammad, Hatim’s son was a child and a boiling pot overturned on his arm, the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم stroked it, supplicated, then blew some of his salvia on it and it was immediately healed.13

  3. How fortunate are those whom have been blessed with the blessed touch of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.
  4. We find that the stroke removed whatever evil it was.
  5. When a boiling pot is turned on a part of the body, the burns are severe, and surgery is required. The blessed hand and supplication of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was sufficient and was healed immediately.

Incident 11

Sayyidina Shurahbil had a growth on his hand that prevented him from gripping a sword or holding the reins of his mount. He went to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and complained about it whereupon the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم pressed the growth with his hand until it was removed. No trace of the growth remained, and his hand was fully recovered.14

Incident 12

A girl who was in the service of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم asked him for some food when he was eating and as he never refused anyone anything he gave her what was in front of him. The girl was persistent and said, “I want the food in your mouth.” So he gave her what was in his mouth. After she had swallowed it, she became well-mannered and the change was apparent for all to see, and she became among the most wellmannered girls of Madinah. 15

Lessons Learnt

  1. How fortunate are those whom have been blessed with the blessed touch of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.
  2. The Noor of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم entered her via the food and changed her state.
  3. When we take food that is blessed from the Awliya (friends of Allah) we hope to receive (faiz/fuyooz) from them to make us better people.
  4. This is the Sunnah of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.
  5. The guide of Khawaja Muinuddeen Chisti gave Ghareeb Nawaz something to eat, when Ghareeb Nawaz ate it, he was able to see 18,000 worlds. The veils were removed. Subhan Allah!
